Winter has always been hard for me. I think I might actually have Seasonal Affective Disorder, I went through the DSM IV in grad school and self diagnosed. Since becoming a mom, it has gotten worse. Funny how these little people make the good things in life better and the bad things worse, isn't it?
Being stuck in the house is hard. Having it be dark at 4:00 p.m. is hard. Taking two kids in and out of car seats when it is 11 degrees is hard. I dread getting out of bed some mornings and by 4:30, I find myself counting the minutes till my kiddos are in bed. It's no way to live.
Today was 60 degrees. It felt like 80. We played in the melting snow for hours. We didn't wear coats. We grilled burgers, outside. I loved every minute of it. I have no idea what the forecast for tomorrow is. It wouldn't surprise me if it's 6 degrees. It's okay though. Today I had a taste of spring. I filled my lungs with warm air that smelled of dirt and life. It felt so good to really enjoy my kids. I was more patient. I had more energy. I know I can make it another ten weeks.

I love the last pic. Glad you enjoyed your day. Hope you get lots more serotonin in other ways over the next few months.
You got some wonderful photos of your kids! Grilling a hamburger sounds wonderful just about this time in winter....
Adorable pics. I too love the last one and then the first one of Sam with the back light on his hair....you are getting really good with your toy girl!!!! I am proud of you.
Glad you had a warm day to enjoy. My kids would love to come play in the snow.
It has been chilly and rainy here this week...I won't tell you what temp we consider chilly here but we have been cooped up and my boys are going nuts.
Thanks everyone.
Bethany-I've been making myself shhot in manual. It was so nice to be outside and have plenty of natural light. I've been getting so discouraged indoors. My house is so dark and all I have is the on camera flash. Outside is so much easier...I use the side of my house as a giant grey card!
Lovin' the weather here, too :-)
Ditto on the skills you are building with the camera, Sarah. I too love the backlit one of Sam, the sunlight just brushing the top of his hair. Keep at it!
