My Peter Pan

I'm home alone tonight. I was just getting ready to sit down and watch Atonement when I heard Sam upstairs crying. Afraid he would wake Grace, I bolted off of the couch to check on him. I found him sitting up in bed, crying and saying all kinds of nonsensical things. He was actually still sleeping.

I held him and told him everything was okay. Then I started to understand him. He was repeating "I don't want to grow up, I don't want to get big!" over and over. I assured him he was going to be little for a very long time. He said, "okay" and flopped back onto his pillow. And snored.

I left his room with a smile on my face and a little longing in my heart. If only it were true. If only my little man really would be little for a very long time.

Sigh. I know the feeling. I don't want to grow up, either.

So sweet :) Our children say the cutest things. How did you like atonement? I wasn't too impressed at this point in my life . . .
